Period Indicator = ? in Master Forecast Profile

Dear Experts,

I am trying to generalize some observation and hence this question

Here are some observations.

The storage buckets has

Month, Quarter and Posting Periods based on fiscal calendar that is year dependent weeks checked.

Day, Week and Year are not checked

Now

I cannot create MFP with period indicator = year

I cannot create MFP with period indicator = week

But

I can create an MFP with period indicator = day

I can also create MFP with period indicator - Month, Quarter and Posting Periods.. which is fine

On the same vein,

I cannot assign a planning bucket profile in days only (past = days, future = days) to the data view of this planning area

I cannot assign a planning bucket profile in weeks only (past = weeks, future = weeks) to the data view of this planning area

Questions:

1) What is happening ?

2) What restriction/relation exists in the selection of period indicator in master forecast profile Vs the periodicities checked in storage bucket profile (of the planning area) ?

3) Why should master forecast profile have an period restriction when it comes to statistical forecast? There is some periodicity to begin with at which data is stored. Why have a restriction in choice of periodicity when it comes to running a forecast at a periodicity larger than storage periodicity (e.g. year above)?. What purpose does doing so achieve? I don't intend to run yearly forecast (or daily) but just a point.

4) Also why should it matter how I view the data in data view, as long as there is some arbitrary storage bucket profile that understands dates?

Thanks

BS
