Aggregate Supply Planning

Hi everyone,

We are embarking on an project to implement SAP (ECC and APO) and I have a question about aggregation.

I understand that we can aggregate SKU demand to a higher level (an Aggregated Planning Level) and that we can also disaggregate based upon order history or other such parameters.

Given our large number of SKUs (over 10,000 sold in any given month) and the complexity of our manufacturing sites and warehouses, I believe that it makes sense to perform rough cut capacity planning at an aggregated level.  It is our intent to use CTP methodology.

My question is whether there is a way to aggregate supply data to the same Aggregated Planning Level such that for each Planning Item I would have an associated bill of materials, transportation and production information.  Do I need to manually create and maintain this as separate master data?  If not, then how would SNP work when I feed it demand at an aggregated level?

Please advise, I've searched blogs and books and have not found any source that addresses this issue.

Thanks.
