Hi
We have a SNP CTM run setup to bring demand from DC to plant, which is the only source for this DC-material. There is a PDS at the plant with a mixed resource. The result is that we have demand carried to plant and planned orders are created at the plant
There is a lot of demand at DC and only some of the demand is sent to plant. We in fact have set the day's supply to 6 days at DC but the system is not able to build up to 6 days at DC. Interestingly when we look at SNP capacity leveling view, the resource is not being utilized 100% and only for two buckets, utilization is going over the 100%.
Reviewing the settings within CTM profile ( Let's call these as initial settings):
1. in Supplies tab, we have selection for "Consider Safety Day's supply" as "Consider, if possible"
2. in Special strategies, we have Capacity Planning " Use setting from Resource"
When I change the Consider Safety Day's supply to always consider, it still did not bring up the day's supply at DC to 6 days and the utilization is still the same, resource is not being utilized 100% and only for two buckets, utilization is going over the 100%.
When I change the setting for capacity to "consider all resources to be infinite", the results are accurate: the DC has atleast 6 days of supply, the resource at plant is never utilized over 100% and is infact mostly about 85-99% utilized in all buckets.
This seems to be contradicting what CTM is supposed to do. Any ideas on what may be going wrong?
Also want to add one more thing to the equation, there is a component for the material we are planning at plant and that has a resource, PDS too in APO. We see that when we have the situation where we have initial settings as explained above, the component's resource is utilized at almost 100% all the time. When we try out setting the option to consider all resources infinitely, this component's resource is getting over utilized ( above 100%).
Does component's capacity drive finished product's production in SNP CTM run? I believe only PPDS has that capability to run bottomsup planning.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
