in S&OP on HANA, you can define forecast profiles for a planning area consisting of one or more forecast methods and some other parameters. Furthermore, you can define parameter combinations for the forecasting methods (alpha, beta, gamma). You can define several different combinations for one forecasting method, and you can assign each combination to a forecast profile (optional).
My question is, what exactly happens, when you start a forecast via the Excel addin, using one of the forecasting profiles? If I assigned more than one forecasting method to a profile, is the system doing a forecast with each method and chooses the one with the best results? Which paramater combination is used? All that are assigned to the used forecast profile plus those without a profile assigned to it, again to choose the method/parameter combination with the best result?
It would be great if anyone could answer my questions!
